How do you know your house isn’t level? The signs are clear. Doors and windows don’t close properly. Cracks appear in the drywall or plaster. In more severe cases, placing a marble the floor will cause it to roll rapidly downhill. These are just the symptoms, but while you may be able to live with them, they could be an indication of much more serious problems,
What can cause a house to be un-level
Improper soil compaction is one common cause. When your home is built, the contractor “compacts,” or packs down the soil to a pre-determined hardness. If this was not done correctly, your house will “settle,” especially soon after the construction.Houses built on “problem soil,” like decaying organic matter (think the thick, matted down carpet of leaves and other materials that you may see in a forest), can experience even more severe problems of settling.
In these and other cases, besides the obvious results that are easily seen, an inspection may reveal cracks or breaks in your foundation. Such a fundamental weakening of your house’s structure is quite serious, and should be addressed immediately.
How a house is brought back to level
With the proper materials and experience, house leveling can be a very non-invasive process. Unlike most construction, which can painfully disrupt your home and life, much of the home leveling process is performed “beneath the surface.” However, that doesn’t mean that it’s easy. At CXC Contracting, we’re expert in how to level your house correctly without causing any more damage than you already have. After we understand the cause of the problem, we address it in a number of ways, from foundation repair to soil compaction; waterproofing to steel columns.
We also know the importance of leveling the house over a period of time. Doing it too rapidly can cause additional cracking and settling — which is what is being fixed in the first place! So while the disturbance to your routine is minimal, expect the process to take several weeks. In the end, your house will be level for years to come, and you can put those uneven doors, windows, floors and walls to rest for good!
Will and his company did an outstanding job retrofitting my 6 apartment buildings. I had several other companies bid this project but was won over by his knowledge and honesty. He listened to what i was concerned about, assured me he would he take care of everything and did everything he said he was going to do…and then some. I highly recommend him.

Excellent Project Manager and crew. Very professional and knowledgeable. They even did a little extra work at no charge that was not part of the contract! You will be making an excellent choice if you hire this contractor for your earthquake foundation repair.
